The Federal Government has commenced a comprehensive revenue recovery exercise aimed at improving inflows into the Federation Account, with over 50 consultants appointed to trace and recover unremitted funds across major economic sectors.
The six-month exercise, jointly coordinated by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), was inaugurated today at the RMAFC headquarters in Abuja. Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, said the initiative demonstrates government’s commitment to strengthening fiscal governance and transparency, stressing that it was a deliberate strategy to plug leakages and enhance the fiscal capacity of all tiers of government.
He noted that the effort aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and enjoys full presidential support.
Representing the FIRS Chairman, Coordinating Director Shettima Tamadi commended the RMAFC’s leadership for its proactive approach to improving national revenue, pledging the agency’s full cooperation.
Tamadi expressed confidence that closer collaboration among revenue bodies would help bridge Nigeria’s fiscal gap and drive sustainable economic growth.
