Boko Haram Attacks Military Base, Kills Two Teachers In Borno

Suspected Boko Haram fighters have reportedly attacked a Nigerian Army base in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, leaving several soldiers feared dead.

Security sources say the early Monday assault on the 153 Task Force Battalion’s Forward Operating Base saw terrorists burn armoured tanks and cart away weapons.

In a separate incident the same day, two education workers from Damboa were killed after their vehicle hit a landmine along the Maiduguri–Damboa–Biu road, just hours after a high-level police meeting was held in Maiduguri to address rising insecurity in the region.

Local sources revealed that the victims, who were both teachers, were travelling to Maiduguri for a professional exam when the explosion occurred.

The District Head of Damboa confirmed the deaths and called for prayers for lasting peace.

Meanwhile, Senator Ali Ndume, who represents the area, described the attacks as alarming and urged the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts, warning that the military must be better equipped and motivated to deal with the renewed threats.
