D’Tigers Arrive in Angola for 2025 FIBA AfroBasket

Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, arrived in Luanda yesterday ahead of the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket, which runs from August 12 to 24.

The final 12-man roster, unveiled a day earlier, features NBA guard Josh Okogie of the Houston Rockets, defensive specialist Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, veterans Talib Zanna and Stan Okoye, as well as guard Mike Nuga.

Four players were cut from the provisional squad, while Peter Olisemeka was ruled ineligible, Head coach Mohammed Abdulrahman will lead the team, with Okoye and Nwamu serving as co-captains.

Drawn in Group B with defending champions Tunisia, Cameroon, and Madagascar, D’Tigers will face Madagascar on August 13, Tunisia on August 15, and Cameroon on August 17.

The knockout rounds begin August 18, with the final set for August 24 at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda. Nigeria, champions in 2015, are aiming for only their second AfroBasket crown after an early exit to Uganda in the 2021 edition.
