Indian authorities say 68 people remain missing a week after a massive wall of icy water swept through the Himalayan town of Dharali in Uttarakhand state on August 5, burying it in mud and debris.
The confirmed death toll stands at four, but officials fear the overall number could exceed 70.
Rescue teams, using sniffer dogs and ground-penetrating radar, have been searching for bodies in the wreckage, though efforts are hampered by washed-out roads and damaged communications.
The missing include 44 Indians, 22 Nepalis, and nine soldiers.
Officials believe the flood, which destroyed multi-storey buildings, was triggered by intense rainfall that caused debris from a rapidly melting glacier to collapse.
They describe the disaster as a stark reminder of the risks facing communities dependent on rapidly retreating glaciers.
