Ms. Comfort Emmanson, who was remanded after allegedly assaulting a flight attendant and clashing with security operatives on an Ibom Air flight on August 10, 2025.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said today that the decision followed consultations with aviation stakeholders and appeals from concerned individuals.
He noted that all parties involved in recent airport incidents, including this one, had shown remorse and learned valuable lessons about aviation security protocols.
Keyamo confirmed that Ibom Air had agreed to drop its complaint, paving the way for Emmanson’s release from Kirikiri Correctional Centre within the week.
He also disclosed that the Airline Operators of Nigeria would lift the lifetime flying ban earlier imposed on her.
The minister criticised both the passenger’s conduct and the airline staff’s handling of the matter, including the leak of an indecent video of Emmanson, describing the entire episode as regrettable but ultimately instructive for the travelling public.
