President Bola Tinubu arrived in Brasília yesterday for a state visit aimed at deepening Nigeria–Brazil relations through high-level talks and the signing of bilateral agreements.
He was received at the Brasília Air Base by senior Brazilian officials and later welcomed by Nigerian ministers, agency heads, and private sector
representatives at his hotel.
An official ceremony will be held at the Planalto Palace, where President Tinubu will meet his counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, for private discussions, expanded talks, and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding.
The Nigerian leader is also scheduled to meet Brazil’s legislative and judicial leaders and participate in the Nigeria-Brazil Business Forum.
According to the Presidency, the visit will consolidate a long history of ties dating back to the 1960s and expand cooperation in trade, defence, agriculture, and energy.
Officials said the trip reflects a renewed strategy to diversify Nigeria’s global partnerships and build on recent agreements under the Strategic Dialogue mechanism, which produced deals in livestock development, tourism, and counternarcotics.
