The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
The Minister congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the milestone and encouraged citizens to remain committed to the values of patriotism, unity, and resilience that have sustained the country since 1960.
Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he described as a plan aimed at national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity. He expressed optimism that with collective effort, the country would continue to advance in peace, development, and national unity, and wished all Nigerians a joyful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
