Vice President Assures Nigerians in Diaspora of Inclusion in Nigeria’s Development

Vice President, Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians in the diaspora of increased engagement in the policies and programmes of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, aimed at positioning Nigeria globally.

Speaking during a meeting with members of the Nigerian community in the United States on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Shettima said the country is on the right path under the Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighting reforms that are yielding positive results.

He acknowledged the resilience and contributions of Nigerians abroad, noting their experiences and expertise are valuable assets to national development.

The Vice President encouraged Nigerians overseas to remain confident in the nation’s progress, pointing to rising foreign reserves, increased revenue at the subnational level, and major investments in infrastructure and youth development, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said Nigerians are making significant achievements globally. She noted improvements in passport processing, the functionality of the non-resident  Bank Verification Number (BVN), and a more favourable investment climate under the current administration.
