Reps Step In to Resolve PENGASSAN–Dangote Refinery Crisis Over Fuel Distribution

The House of Representatives has resolved to mediate in the ongoing conflict between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Dangote Refinery, which has disrupted fuel distribution across the country.

The decision followed a motion of urgent public importance jointly sponsored by Kano and Sokoto lawmakers, Alhassan Doguwa and Abdussamad Dasuki, during yesterday’s plenary.

Lawmakers described the refinery as a key private investment critical to Nigeria’s energy security and economic stability.

They warned that persistent labour disputes could deter investors and threaten national growth.

The House called on its leadership to broker peace between both parties and directed relevant ministries and agencies to develop policies protecting strategic private investments from unlawful union actions while ensuring compliance with Free Trade Zone regulations under the NEPZA Act.
