President Bola Tinubu has ordered a full investigation into the killing of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in the Chiranci community of Kano State, describing the attack as barbaric and condoling with the bereaved family. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the police for the swift arrest of the principal suspects and directed security agencies to ensure diligent prosecution, assuring Nigerians that the Federal Government remains committed to protecting lives and property.

The Kano State Police confirmed that three principal suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack, following intelligence-led operations carried out between the night of January 17 and the early hours of January 18, 2026.

Police Public Relations Officer CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa said the victims were evacuated to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where they were confirmed dead. The arrests were made under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and supervised by the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, as investigations into the incident continue.
