Federal Government has announced the commencement of applications for the 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Nigerian postgraduate students. The announcement was disclosed via a post by the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Social Media, which stated that the scheme will support MSc and PhD studies in oil and gas–related disciplines in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia, with benefits covering tuition, return airfare, accommodation, living allowances, health insurance, and other approved costs.

According to the PTDF, the scholarships are highly competitive and aimed at building indigenous capacity in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector through access to global training and research facilities. The agency explained that PhD candidates studying in the United Kingdom will adopt a split-site arrangement between the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna, and selected UK universities, while applicants will be assessed based on academic merit, research proposals, professional relevance, and compliance with requirements, including NYSC completion and NIN verification. Applications are to be submitted online, with the deadline fixed for February 27.
