U.S President Invites Putin to Proposed Global Peace Council

United States President Donald Trump has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to join a proposed international peace council, which he said would help address major global conflicts, including the governance and reconstruction of Gaza.
The invitation was disclosed yesterday by Russian officials, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirming that Moscow had received the proposal and was seeking further clarification from Washington, without indicating whether Putin would accept.
Reports also indicated that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko had been invited, as President Trump moves to personally chair the body amid the ongoing war in Ukraine and stalled peace efforts.
Russian officials said the proposed council would oversee a reported 20-point framework aimed at ending the war in Gaza, with representation drawn from the United States, Europe and Arab countries.
Russia, which has criticised Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and warned of a humanitarian catastrophe, has said it continues to support Palestinian civilians while maintaining shifting diplomatic ties across the Middle East.
