The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that an abduction incident did occur in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, after days of conflicting reports.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said verification from operational units and intelligence sources established that the incident happened, explaining that earlier public comments were made to prevent panic while investigations were ongoing.
He added that initial claims by some residents describing the report as false created uncertainty, necessitating further checks by security agencies.
Hundeyin said the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had ordered the deployment of tactical and intelligence assets to Kajuru and neighbouring communities, with intensified patrols and search-and-rescue operations underway to locate the victims and restore calm.
He urged the public and the media to rely on official sources for accurate information, warning that speculation could undermine ongoing security efforts, as authorities work to address the latest abduction in the area.
