Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), were reported to have suffered a setback in their bid for direct qualification to the Champions League last-16 after losing 2–1 to Sporting Lisbon yesterday.
Sporting were said to have taken control in the second half through a brace from Luis Suárez, who sealed the win with a late header in the 90th minute, after PSG substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had drawn the visitors level in the 79th minute.
The result was said to leave the French side fifth in the group standings with 13 points, complicating their qualification hopes.
PSG are now reported to be facing a decisive final group match against Newcastle next Wednesday, with their progression to the knockout stage hanging in the balance.
