Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is set to formally rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) today, following his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party last week.
His spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the APC was a familiar platform for the governor, noting that Yusuf first joined the party in 2014 when he won its primary for the Kano Central Senatorial seat.
He explained that the governor’s decision to return followed years of political engagement across different platforms and was informed by considerations of governance, national cohesion and development.
Governor Yusuf said rejoining the APC would strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government, fast-track infrastructural development, enhance security coordination and improve service delivery across the state, while also promoting political stability and unity in Kano.
He is also expected to launch the APC e-registration exercise in the state and formally register alongside 22 members of the State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives and all 44 local government chairmen.
