Award-winning singer Davido has opened up about how his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, encouraged him after he lost out at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, marking his second defeat at the ceremony.

Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for With You, featuring Omah Lay, but the award went to South African artiste Tyla for Push 2 Start. Despite a strong Nigerian presence in the category, including Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Omah Lay and Eddy Kenzo, none of the Nigerian nominees emerged victorious.

Davido said he was initially reluctant to attend the Grammy after-party but was motivated by Chioma, who urged him to remain humble in success and gracious in defeat while encouraging him to step out.

The singer later shared photos from their outing on social media, expressing appreciation for his wife’s comforting and thoughtful words.
