The Federal Government has allocated N962.83 billion for empowerment projects and the procurement of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) in the 2026 Appropriation Act, according to an analysis by civic technology organisation, Tracka.
Tracka’s review of the 2026 Federal Government budget shows that the allocation includes N15.13 billion for the purchase of 39 SUVs and N947.70 billion for 2,579 empowerment projects, bringing the total to N962.83 billion.

The organisation noted that the amount is higher than the combined N960.27 billion allocated to seven key federal ministries. These include the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, which received N156.8 billion; the Ministry of Housing with N145.3 billion; the Ministry of Women Affairs, N169.39 billion; the Ministry of Justice, N150.7 billion; the Ministry of Livestock Development, N177.6 billion; the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, N87.3 billion; and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, N73.1 billion.
Tracka also raised concerns over what it described as a lack of transparency surrounding many of the empowerment projects contained in the 2026 budget.
