Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced a ₦50 million support package for the Super Falcons ahead of their upcoming qualifying clash with Benin Republic, signalling strong backing for the national women’s football team. Abiodun made the announcement when he received the female national team at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta yesterday.
The governor’s gesture has been welcomed by sports stakeholders as a significant demonstration of state-level investment in women’s sport, potentially enhancing the Falcons’ readiness for the match and reinforcing Nigeria’s broader ambitions in the international women’s football arena. The Super Falcons will face the Benin Amazons on Tuesday, at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, in the return leg of the WAFCON final qualifying round.
