UN Secretary-General, António Guterres has strongly condemned the recent deadly attacks in Yelewata, Benue State, where dozens of civilians were reportedly killed in their sleep.
His spokesperson, Farhan Haq, said the UN is monitoring the situation and expects those responsible to be swiftly apprehended.
President Bola Tinubu also denounced the violence and urged all residents and leaders in the state to embrace peace and unity.
He is scheduled to visit Benue tomorow to engage stakeholders, including traditional rulers and youth groups, in a bid to end the persistent conflict.
President Tinubu offered condolences to the victims’ families and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace.
