Death Toll In South Africa Floods Rises To Sixty-Seven

South African rescue teams recovered more bodies yesterday, days after heavy rains and strong winds battered the Eastern Cape province, as the death toll rose to at least 67.

It would be recalled that a cold winter storm struck the largely rural and underdeveloped province last Monday, causing a river to burst its banks and submerge homes, with several make-shift dwellings toppled.

Reports disclosed that the worst-hit area was the city of Mthatha, where residents picked through the mud three days after the incident. More than 3,000 houses have been affected, while Four children are still missing.
