Fed Govt Unveils Skills Drive to Empower 20 Million Youths by 2030

The Federal Government has rolled out a national skills programme to connect 20 million young Nigerians to jobs, training, and business opportunities by 2030.

Vice President Kashim Shettima announced the plan in Abuja as he took over as chairman of the reactivated Generation Unlimited Nigeria Board. He affirmed that about 60 percent of participants will be women.

Shettima said with more than 60 percent of Nigerians under 25, the country cannot afford to waste its youth potential. He stated that at the centre of the plan is the Digital Access and Livelihoods Initiative (DALI).

The Vice President said the training would be directly linked to guaranteed jobs or business ventures, and all courses would follow the National Skills Qualification Framework.

While speaking, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, said the focus will be on job creation, bridging the skills gap, and human capital growth.
