The Federal Government today arraign five men accused of carrying out the June 5, 2022 bombing of Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, which left over 40 worshippers dead and many others injured.
Idris Omeiza, Al-Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris, and Momoh Abubakar face nine counts of terrorism before Justice Obiorah Egwatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The arraignment comes three years after then Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, announced the arrest of the suspects.
The National Security Council linked the attack to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), alleging the group’s fighters stormed the church during yesterday mass, detonated explosives, and opened fire on congregants.
