JAMB Admits Glitches, Apologises Over 2025 UTME Errors, Reschedules Exams for Affected Candidates

Following widespread outrage over the poor performance in the 2025 UTME, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has admitted to technical faults that affected the examination process.

At a tearful press conference in Abuja, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede publicly apologised for the failure in the Board’s upgraded grading system, which affected nearly 380,000 candidates across Lagos and the South-East.

He confirmed that a glitch in the updated software linked to one of JAMB’s service providers impacted 65 centres in Lagos and 92 in the Owerri zone.

Oloyede stated that the Board had fast-tracked its annual post-exam audit in response to the uproar and found that complaints over the results were justified. He announced that affected candidates would receive SMS notifications to reprint their slips for rescheduled exams set for Friday and Saturday. Emphasising accountability, Oloyede took full responsibility and reaffirmed JAMB’s commitment to fairness and transparency in the admissions process
