Labour Party Suspends Governor Otti, Senators Over Anti-Party Allegations

The Labour Party has announced the indefinite suspension of six high-profile members, including Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Senators Darlington Nwokocha and Ireti Kingibe, for alleged anti-party activities.

Others suspended are Victor Afam Ogene, Amobi Ogah, and Seyi Sowunmi.

According to a statement by National Secretary Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the action followed the recommendations of a disciplinary committee established on May 2, 2025, and takes immediate effect, barring the affected members from all party activities.

The party clarified that Nenadi Usman, despite recent controversies, was not sanctioned as she is not a registered member but a supporter of the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.

It accused her of lacking moral credibility due to past corruption allegations.

Reaffirming its independence, the Labour Party ruled out any political merger or coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting it would contest as a standalone party.
