Liverpool and Manchester City will face Real Madrid in blockbuster UEFA Champions League ties this season.
Xabi Alonso’s Madrid will host City and visit Liverpool at Anfield, two of the standout ties in the new league-phase format. Arne Slot’s Liverpool will also face Atletico Madrid, PSV Eindhoven, Qarabag, and tough away trips to Inter Milan, Frankfurt, Marseille, and Galatasaray. City welcome Borussia Dortmund, Leverkusen, Napoli, and Galatasaray, with away fixtures at Villarreal, Monaco, and Norwegian debutants Bodo/Glimt.
PSG, who won the title last season, will battle Bayern, Barcelona, Spurs,
Newcastle, Atalanta, Leverkusen, Sporting Lisbon, and Bilbao. Arsenal, meanwhile, face Bayern, Atletico, Inter, and Bilbao, while Chelsea prepare for visits from Barcelona and minnows Pafos of Cyprus.
The new format sees all 36 clubs in one league, each playing eight games. The top eight progress directly to the last 16, while teams placed ninth to 24th enter play-offs.
Action kicks off September 16, with the final set for May 30 in Budapest kicking off earlier than usual, at 6pm local time.
