The Nigerian Armed Forces has announced that some officers will be arraigned before a military judicial panel over allegations of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government, following investigations into acts of indiscipline and breaches of service regulations.
In a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the military said the probe, conducted in line with the Armed Forces Act and established procedures, identified some officers whose actions were found to be inconsistent with the ethics, values, and professional standards of the Armed Forces.
The military explained that the actions being taken are purely disciplinary and aimed at preserving order, discipline, and operational effectiveness within the ranks, stressing its continued loyalty to constitutional authority and democratic governance.
It added that the affected officers, some of whom were earlier arrested in October 2025 over breaches of service regulations linked to career-related grievances, would now face trial before appropriate military judicial panels in accordance with extant laws and service regulations.
