The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 16, 2024, Ondo State governorship election, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, has withdrawn his appeal at the Supreme Court challenging the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Mr. Ajayi had previously filed petitions at the Ondo State Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal after losing the election, in which he scored 117,845 votes to Aiyedatiwa’s 366,781.

The withdrawal was confirmed in a letter dated September 16, 2025, addressed to the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court in Abuja, which was made available to reporters today.

In the letter, Mr Ajayi stated that he had consulted family members, party leaders, associates, and legal advisers before deciding to withdraw the appeal.

He emphasized that his priority remains good governance and peaceful coexistence in Ondo State and Nigeria, extending his best wishes to Governor Aiyedatiwa as he continues to lead the state.
