The Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) has secured the conviction of Wahab Nasiru Olabanji, a Grade Level 14 officer and former Chief Executive (Accounts) at the State Hospital Management Board, for defrauding job seekers under the pretense of securing them employment.
Olabanji was found guilty on a 30-count charge of official corruption, obtaining money under false pretence, and criminal conversion, following a 17-month trial.
According to a statement signed by OYACA Chairman, Hon. Justice Eni Esan (rtd), the court sentenced the defendant to six months’ imprisonment on each count with an option of ₦50,000 fine per charge.
The court also ordered him to refund all monies fraudulently collected from his victims within three months. Justice Esan reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to rid Oyo State’s public service of corruption and ensure justice for victims of fraud.
