The Presidency has reversed its earlier decision to reappoint Dr. Muheeba Dankaka as Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) for a second five-year term.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced that the Presidency made a U-turn by announcing the reversal of Dankaka’s re-appointment and announcing the appointment of a former House of Representatives member, Ayo Omidiran, as the new FCC chair.
Reports disclosed that President Bola Tinubu appointed Mohammed Musa as the Commission’s secretary, while retaining Kayode Oladele as commissioner.
The President also renewed the appointments of commissioners from Jigawa, Kebbi, Osun, and Lagos states and appointed new commissioners from across the country, including Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, and several other states.
According to Onanuga, the presidency’s new announcement marks a clear shift from its earlier position, which had confirmed Dankaka’s reappointment before the reversal.
