The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced a policy
that will provide lifetime salary benefits to senior officers retiring from the rank of Deputy Controller, Comptroller, or Commandant-General and above.
The Interior Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the announcement today at the 2025 Ministerial Retreat described the initiative as a major boost to officer welfare under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tunji-Ojo said the policy was approved by President Bola Tinubu. He revealed that over 50,000 officers have been promoted in the last two years, while future promotions will be based on capacity and performance.
The Minister disclosed that a world-class Fire Academy is under construction to strengthen training and service delivery.
Tunji-Ojo added that the ministry is prioritizing mental health support and encouraging private sector partnerships to modernize firefighting operations across the country.
