President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sadness over the derailment of the Abuja–Kaduna-bound train, assuring that swift measures will follow to support victims and strengthen railway operations.
Speaking through his verified X handle while on a state visit to Brazil, the President said he had been receiving regular updates on the incident and sympathized with the injured passengers and their families.
President Tinubu noted that he was awaiting a full briefing to guide government action, adding that the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) was already addressing the situation.
He stressed that necessary steps would be taken to prevent a recurrence.
The derailment, which disrupted one of the country’s busiest passenger rail routes, has renewed concerns over railway safety and infrastructure as investigations continue.
