President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to confirm Prof. Yusuf Mohammed Yusuf as Commissioner of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission.
In a letter read during plenary today, President Tinubu explained that the nomination aligns with Section 21 of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission Act, 2022, and is intended to replace Prof. Fatima Alkali, who failed to appear for screening after her nomination on June 2, 2025.
He urged the Senate to expedite Yusuf’s confirmation and assured lawmakers of his highest regard.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio subsequently referred the nomination to the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters for review and recommendations.
