Russian Strikes Kill 12 in Kyiv, Including Children

At least 12 people, among them three children, have died in Russian missile strikes on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.

Local officials said one of the victims was a 14-year-old girl, while dozens of others were wounded as residential buildings were hit.

Emergency crews are still working to rescue people trapped under the rubble.

President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of choosing military escalation over dialogue, stressing that the attacks showed Russia’s preference for “ballistics instead of the negotiating table.”

The strikes came as Russia’s defence ministry reported intercepting more than 100 Ukrainian drones overnight.

The escalation follows a week of high-level diplomacy, including separate meetings between US President Donald Trump and both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Ukrainian officials are now expected to meet US representatives in New York on Friday to explore ways of ending the conflict.
