Russian Strikes Wound Over 30 in Ukraine After US Minerals Deal

More than 30 people were wounded in overnight Russian drone strikes across Ukraine, officials said today, with the industrial city of Zaporizhzhia bearing the brunt of the attacks.

Regional governor Ivan Fedorov confirmed that a 13-year-old boy was among the 29 injured in the city, where civilian infrastructure, including homes and a university, was hit.

Additional strikes in Dnipropetrovsk wounded two men and triggered fires, while Ukraine’s railway company reported damage to a locomotive plant in Zaporizhzhia.

Meanwhile, Russia claimed it shot down over 120 Ukrainian drones, mostly over annexed Crimea.

The attacks came just hours after Ukraine signed a landmark critical minerals deal with the United States.

President Zelensky hailed the agreement as a step toward stronger US ties but urged allies to intensify pressure on Moscow to bring it to the negotiating table.

Meanwhile, Kyiv residents and families of missing Ukrainian soldiers have reacted with mixed emotions to the newly signed U.S.-Ukraine mineral deal, which promises American access to Ukraine’s critical resources in exchange for long-term defense and reconstruction support.
