The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that six passengers lost their lives while 23 others sustained injuries in a lone road crash around the Four Square Camp along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
The Ogun State command’s Public Relations Officer, Odunsin Afolabi, said the accident occurred at about 11:27 a.m., involving a DAF CF 380 trailer, and that FRSC rescue officials from the Ogunmakin Unit arrived at the scene within two minutes of the incident.
Afolabi explained that a total of 29 persons were involved in the crash, attributing the cause to fatigue and speeding, which reportedly led to loss of control. He warned motorists against the practice of mixed loading of cattle and passengers, noting that it complicates rescue efforts and increases the risk of fatalities.
The injured and deceased were taken to hospitals in Ogunmakin and Ogere, while the FRSC advised drivers to properly service their vehicles, avoid excessive speed, and strictly observe road safety regulations.
