A South Korean court has issued a new arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk Yeol, allowing Prosecutors to forcibly bring him in for questioning after repeated no-shows.
The warrant comes as Yoon faces mounting legal trouble, including charges of attempting to subvert civilian rule and allegations of election tampering.
Recall that last year Yoon ordered troops to storm parliament in an effort to block a vote against his declaration of martial law. He was arrested in January, becoming the first sitting President in South Korea’s history to be taken into custody.
Meanwhile, Yoon and his wife, former first lady Kim Keon Hee, are also being investigated in a separate corruption case. Authorities are looking into claims that a shaman, Jeon Seong-bae, received luxury gifts from a Unification Church official and passed them on to Kim.
