Sultan urges farmers to embrace agriculture for food security

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on farmers to fully embrace agriculture by making effective use of fertilisers and other inputs to enhance food production and ensure national food security.

While speaking today at the flag-off of subsidised sales and distribution of 105,800 bags of assorted fertilisers and farm inputs worth N299.6 million in Gwadabawa , Sokoto State, the Sultan emphasised the central role of agriculture in the nation’s development.

Represented by the Sa’in Kilgori, Muhammadu Jabbi Kilgori, the Sultan described agriculture as the foundational livelihood for the average Nigerian and a key driver of sustainable development and food sufficiency.

He also warned officials overseeing the distribution to fear God and avoid diverting the inputs, stressing that the materials must reach genuine farmers and should not be hijacked by middlemen.
