Some members of Nigeria’s Super Falcons paid a visit to South African forward Gabriela Salgado in the hospital following the serious leg injury she sustained during their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash in Morocco.
Salgado suffered a mid-shaft fracture of her left leg in the 88th minute of Tuesday’s match and has since undergone successful surgery at Mohamed VI University Hospital in Casablanca.
She is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the year.
Led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade, the Nigerian players presented Salgado with a signed jersey and a heartfelt note expressing solidarity and well-wishes.
Nigeria won the match 2–1 and will face hosts Morocco in Saturday’s final as they chase a 10th WAFCON title.
