Osimhen Breaks Record as Galatasaray Win Turkish Cup

Victor Osimhen wrote his name into Turkish football history yesterday night, scoring twice to break the single-season goal record for a foreign player and power Galatasaray to a 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Cup final.
The Nigerian striker entered the match with 33 goals and surpassed Mario Jardel’s 34-goal benchmark from the 2000/01 season by striking in the 46th and 63rd minutes, taking his tally to 35 across all competitions.
Baris Yilmaz opened the scoring in the fifth minute, but the night belonged to Osimhen, whose goals showcased both precision and flair.
Now eighth on Galatasaray’s all-time list of foreign scorers, Osimhen has overtaken Jardel and sits just behind legends like Gheorghe Hagi.
Galatasaray now eye a domestic double, needing a win against Kayserispor on Sunday to seal their 25th league title.
