Senator Says President Tinubu Backs $25bn Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline

President Bola Tinubu is fully committed to the \$25 billion Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline, according to Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who represented Nigeria at the African Parliament Union’s executive session in Casablanca.

Senator Ibrahim said the project is a top priority for the Tinubu administration, which is also reviewing previously abandoned projects to fast-track their completion.

The 5,660-kilometre pipeline, set to transport 30 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually, will run through 13 African countries, with Nigeria as the main supplier.

The senator highlighted the pipeline’s potential to create jobs, stimulate industrial and digital development, and improve regional energy sustainability.

He noted that Morocco could benefit significantly by supplying gas to Europe and urged the country to revise its visa policy for Nigerians to reflect the mutual benefits of the investment.

He added that the project is still in the feasibility and planning phase, with a final investment decision now expected in 2025.
