Fluminense Hold Dortmund in Goalless Club World Cup Clash

Borussia Dortmund were held to a 0-0 draw by Brazilian side Fluminense at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, as South American teams continued their unbeaten run at the Club World Cup.

Fluminense created more chances throughout the Group F encounter, with goalkeeper Gregor Kobel keeping Dortmund in the match by denying Jhon Arias, Agustin Canobbio, and Everaldo.

Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac admitted it was a tough game, saying Fluminense’s possession-based style caused his team problems, particularly in the first half.

He noted that while Dortmund improved after the break, they were fortunate to come away with a point.

Kovac also highlighted the difficult playing conditions, citing the humidity and pitch as factors that favoured the Brazilians, while Dortmund will face South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in their next match.
